Makers of Consumers Electronics Unexcited About Yen's Weakness
The yen's decline has been accelerating, with the dollar passing the key 100 yen mark and rising above 102 yen for the first time in four years and seven months. While most Japanese manufacturers are thrilled about this, makers of appliances and consumer electronics have less to be excited about. Manufacturers Continue Exit, Despite Weak Yen
Abenomics rests on the theory that the weak yen will improve corporate earnings, bring back domestic investment and manufacturing, and create jobs. And it's partly worked: many companies had strong earnings for the fiscal year that ended in March, and have stepped up investment. But averse to further currency fluctuations and a weak domestic market, they're continuing to invest overseas, not in Japan.・・・
